Empowering Women through the Love of Jesus Christ

FriendshipIn this season of women’s rights and our polarized political climate, it has occurred to me the only cure for disagreements, strong opinions and fighting is the love of Jesus Christ. It may seem impossible but His love can change anything!

When did we lose our sisterhood and become mean girls?  Why has competition become more important than compassion?  Our women friends are a gift from God.  The story of Ruth and Naomi is a wonderful example of a treasured female relationship. In Ruth 1:1, Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”  She was telling Naomi her mother in law who had lost both of her sons including Ruth’s husband, she would not leave her.  She loved her so much nothing else mattered but to support her.  Wouldn’t each of us love to have a Ruth in our lives!

As I have gotten older and hopefully wiser, I have discovered my women friends are my lifeline.  These women will immediately stop what they are doing to rush to my side or simply listen to my joy or pain.  God has blessed me with beautiful ladies who shine the light of Jesus Christ on me and others.  See it really is simple, when we as women let our light shine before others, they see the good deeds and how we glorify our Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16).

To show and experience this love we have to forgive hurts inflicted in the past by other women.  Trust me, forgiveness is very difficult but it changes our lives.  Remember, it’s truly for us not necessarily the person who hurt us.  Sometimes, they do not even know they have caused us pain.  But when we deal with the relationship and let it go.  We are no longer weighed down by the anger of unforgiveness.

Remember, our sweet sisters are there to offer encouragement, bring us a meal and even take care of us and our family when we are too sick.  Nourish these relationships with the love of Jesus Christ.
