The Real Truth

imageIn today’s world we can instantly get our news from social media, numerous websites and 24 hour news channels. But is it all true?

So much false information is constantly thrown at us. We live in a time when news has become entertainment. The most salacious story gets on a loop and plays out immediately to the whole world. People are tried in the court of public opinion and fact checking is not done or completely manipulated.

Have we lost the ability to be honest? If this world is screaming lies at us it then makes it easier to practice in our own lives. We make the outside look perfect even when the inside is crumbling. Are we honest with ourselves or with God? We know He knows every issue in our lives but do we go to him in prayer and confess? Do we really do the work to get to the ‘real truth’? The ugly stuff about us we hide and avoid.

The ‘white’ lie we told our spouse. Using our credit cards too much when we can’t afford to pay it off. The jealousy over that kid who got something our kid deserved. All the things we know are wrong but we simply forget because it is not a big deal. But we must deal with these sins and emotions and tell God the real truth.

It is ok to be angry, it is a real human emotion. Paul told us in your anger do not sin and don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry. (Ephesians 4:26) We can’t turn that anger toward someone else, we must forgive but we have to deal with our anger. God understands but we need to be honest with him and stop running.

‭‭Once we release the stuff we have held onto and come to Him, all who are weary and burdened, He will give us rest for our souls and will carry our load. (Matthew 11:28-30) But we have to trust Him with all of it! Even the things we don’t want to face.  Some think if they surrender everything and take down their walls with God they will have to face all the bad.  But that is just not true. Jesus will take guilt and hopelessness away and teach us His ways. Our job is to get to the real truth and stop avoiding.

Paul told us in Romans 8:1 there is no more condemnation in Christ Jesus. We are free! He simply loves us and yearns for us to accept His forgiveness and amazing grace.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you so much for your amazing grace! Lord, help us to always be truthful regardless of what we have done or where we have been. Give us the courage to face things in our life so we can accept the greatest gift of all Jesus Christ.

In His name we pray,
